Evaporator Tubes
Evaporator tubes are specifically designed to efficiently boil off process fluids from the outside of the tube. This is most commonly used in chiller evaporators, where the boiling of refrigerant creates rapid cooling of the water in the tube side for use in comfort cooling as well as process cooling, depending on the specific chiller's application. Ammonia chillers also use evaporator tubes, commonly as prime surface type. Like in condenser tubes, evaporator tubes are commonly manufactured with an O.D. of 5/8", 3/4", and 1". Many chillers use evaporator tubes with external finning enhancement, which create a porous boiling surface that provides greater heat transfer, as well as internal enhancements, which force the fluid to spin through the tubes, creating a higher pressure drop and improving heat transfer even further.
Condenser and Chiller Services stocks replacement tubes in their prime surface form in a variety of different alloys, as well as pre-finned tubes for use in almost any application. Our service department can also install replacement tubes at our Chino, CA facility, or on-site depending on the unit that requires repair.

It is also possible to increase your heat exchanger tubes' efficiency by increasing the fins per inch, or I.D. rifling grooves to gain more surface area and pressure drop by keeping fluids in the tube longer.
